Art Therapy and Children with Autism
For over three consecutive years Dr. Peg has been working with our son Daniel, providing one hour of art therapy every week. Daniel is a 9 year- old boy who has been diagnosed with mild to moderate autism. Because of Daniel’s condition it is very difficult to evaluate the individual results of all the therapies he has had every day year after year. We see our son’s progress, but we cannot specifically and honestly say that the progress comes from one kind of therapeutic intervention. However, we know what Daniel likes and what he doesn’t like, and over the 3 years we have seen how much Daniel likes to work with Dr. Peg every week.
One of the most difficult tasks, living and working with a child who is autistic, is keeping him focused and attending during teaching sessions. This is very difficult but only when we achieve this can we get the desired results and benefits of the teaching experience. Dr. Peg has that special ability to keep Daniel’s attention and interest during the one-hour session, as she is resourceful in finding ways to keep Daniels attention and motivating him with new exciting programs and ideas every week, month after month, year after year. Her repertoire varies from working on annual events, including family birthdays, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, Halloween, Saint Valentine’s Day and other major holidays during the year. During the regular weeks of the year, when no specials events are happening, she uses her extraordinary creativity and expertise to keep Daniel’s motivation and interest in every art therapy session.
One the most important and positive activities during the classes, is the interaction between Dr. Peg and Daniel, he communicates very well with her. Based on our experience with Daniel, we are totally convinced this level of communication in art therapy sessions is higher than any other situation or therapy that Daniel participates in. Also Daniel is drawing beautiful computer pictures and using colors and perspective in ways that we believe are above the standards of his age. We have not doubt that art therapy with Dr. Peg is helping Daniel in all different aspects of his development. We consider art therapy a very important factor in our son’s education, and we can recommend art therapy with Dr. Peg for any child, but especially for children with special needs.

Adult Woman and Childhood Abuse
"After a year of marriage I began to think about motherhood and I knew in my heart there were issues I needed and wanted to resolve before I embarked on that journey. Disillusioned with the traditional psychiatric therapy of my past, I decided to go a different direction and sought art therapy. From the very first visit, I knew I had found what I had been looking for. Art therapy is so much more than one can possibly imagine. It's a means of expressing deep rooted issues that at times are too difficult to verbalize and it provides you with tools that can be applied in your every day life.
Every session can be a new discovery and when you reach the end the work you've created will reveal you to yourself. After a year and half of therapy I know that who I am is better than who I was. But most importantly, I know that I've come full circle with the issues for which I sought therapy and I'm confident that when I'm blessed with a child I will make an amazing mother. I'm so grateful for the knowledge and healing that Dr. Snow and art therapy have given me. I would recommend art therapy to everyone."

The Death of a Parent
" My favorite experience in art therapy was making a Teddy Bear because it was fun ...and naming him after my Dad. I could say goodbye to Dad now and thank him for all he did." Robert Age 7
" Building the doll house helped with Dad's death and accepting the new house."
